Generation history
Acura TLX generations and next redesign.
The Acura TLX has been through 2 generations, starting in 2015 and 2021. The gaps were 6 years, an average of 6.0. Redesigns come quickly on this model. The current generation began in 2021. On that cadence the next full redesign points to 2026 through 2028, centered on 2027. This is a projection. It comes from the model's own past redesign years, not from the manufacturer. A mid-cycle refresh usually lands in between. Public records describe the current generation this way: The second-generation TLX was previewed as the Type S concept car shown at the 2019 Monterey Car Week. Specifications, trims and the NHTSA safety record are on the Acura TLX model page.

In more detail
What each Acura TLX generation changed.
First generation, 2015 to 2021
Two powertrain options were available. A 2.4-liter four-cylinder DOHC i-VTEC gasoline engine with direct injection was offered with front-wheel drive only, mated to a dual-clutch transmission and all-wheel steering (P-AWS). This model's chassis code is UB1. The Honda designed dual clutch transmission is the first to use a torque converter, which absorbs transmission gear shift shock, thus reducing NVH.
Second generation, 2021 to today
The second-generation TLX was previewed as the Type S concept car shown at the 2019 Monterey Car Week. The final version was launched digitally on May 28, 2020, and production began on August 28, with sales following on September 28, 2020 for the 2021 model year. Without a direct replacement for the discontinued RLX, the TLX serves as the flagship Acura sedan, slotting above the ILX/Integra. The four-cylinder TLX's model code is UB5 for front-wheel drives and UB6 for the SH-AWD model, while the model code of the Type S is UB7.
