Terms of use

What this site is, and isn't.

The Vehicle Standard is an independent reference publication. It is not a dealer, manufacturer, appraiser or broker, and using it does not create any professional relationship.

Scope

An editorial reference, not a transaction.

This site publishes vehicle specifications, ownership guidance and original research compiled from manufacturer data, public records and other cited sources. It does not sell vehicles, arrange financing, perform inspections or appraisals, or act on behalf of any dealer or manufacturer. Nothing on this site is professional automotive, financial, insurance or legal advice, and no answer here substitutes for verifying a specific vehicle’s condition, title and equipment yourself before a purchase.

No outcome guarantee

Vehicle specifications, pricing, availability and regulations change, and manufacturers revise records after publication. This site corrects its own record when a real discrepancy is verified (see Corrections), but makes no guarantee that any page is complete, current or free of error at the moment you read it. Confirm any decision-relevant detail with the manufacturer or a qualified professional before relying on it.

Content and use

What you can do with what’s published here.

The site’s own text, original research, comparisons and data compilations are owned by The Vehicle Standard or licensed to it. You may read, link to and quote this content for personal or editorial use with attribution; you may not republish, scrape or redistribute substantial portions of it, or represent it as your own, without permission. Manufacturer names, model names and trademarks referenced on this site belong to their respective owners; their use here is descriptive and does not imply endorsement, sponsorship or affiliation.

This site links to external sources, manufacturer sites, government databases, news coverage and other references, to support the claims it makes. It doesn’t control those sites and isn’t responsible for their content, accuracy or availability; a link here isn’t an endorsement of everything on the destination site.

Warranty and liability

Provided as-is.

This site and everything on it are provided “as is,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any warranty that the content is accurate, complete or fit for a particular purpose. To the fullest extent permitted by law, The Vehicle Standard is not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or reliance on, this site’s content, including a decision made using a specification or figure published here.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Vermont, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles. Changes to these terms are published on this page with an updated effective date; continued use of the site after a change means you accept the revised terms.
