Au7o lists 2024 brake-line and passenger air bag recalls and a 2023-2024 brake-pedal recall among 13 known issues, and carchecker.pro says its larger battery uses Samsung SDI cells only, avoiding the LG fire risk of the original e-tron.
What the Audi Q8 e-tron is
Wikipedia (opens in a new tab) describes the Q8 e-tron as the successor to the Audi e-tron (2018 to 2023), built in Forest, Belgium and Changchun, China, production from September 2018 to February 2025, model years 2019 to 2025, dual- or triple-motor all-wheel drive on the Volkswagen Group MLB Evo platform, in SUV and Sportback coupe-SUV forms. carchecker.pro (opens in a new tab) says the Q8 e-tron is a substantial facelift of the original Audi e-tron, built in Brussels from 2023 until production ended in February 2025, and that the Q8 e-tron 55 is fundamentally the same car as the well-understood e-tron 55, with a larger battery using Samsung SDI cells only, avoiding the LG fire risk of the earlier car, revised motors and more mature software.
Recalls and known issues
Au7o (opens in a new tab) lists 13 known issues for the 2023 to 2026 Q8 e-tron, the most serious being a 2024 brake-line recall (47DE / NHTSA 24V428), a 2023 to 2024 brake-pedal recall (46P7 / NHTSA 26V240), a 2023 to 2024 camera recall (90TV / NHTSA 25V900) and a 2024 passenger air bag recall (69GU / NHTSA 24V251), along with a 12-volt auxiliary battery excessive drain issue on 2023 to 2025 cars. Background and safety record
What public sources say about the Audi Q8 e-tron.
The Audi Q8 e-tron (formerly the Audi e-tron until 2023) is a battery electric mid-size luxury crossover produced by Audi from 2019 to 2025. The e-tron was unveiled as a concept car at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show. The final production version was revealed in San Francisco on 17 September 2018, publicly debuted at the 2018 Paris Motor Show, and was first delivered in May 2019.
- Specifications
- The Audi Q8 e-tron is powered by a 114 kWh battery, of which 106 kWh is usable. This is true for the 55 e-tron variant and the performance SQ8 e-tron variant, while the 50 e-tron variant has a smaller battery.
- Charging
- The e-tron was able to charge at an effective rate of 150 kW using a 175 kW charger. This was possible in a wide state-of-charge window, until the battery was about 80% charged. With such a charger, adding 100 kilometres (62 mi) of range takes only 10 minutes.
- Powertrain
- The e-tron logo can be seen in the last scene of Iron Man 3 but the car is not revealed, probably since it wasn't publicly released as concept by then.

Recent recalls (1 campaign across the latest model years)
- June 2024, Service Brakes, Air:Supply:Hoses, Lines/Piping, And Fittings. Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Volkswagen) is recalling certain 2024 Audi Q8 Sportback E-Tron Quattro and Q8 E-Tron Quattro vehicles. The brake line connection may have been over-tightened and fail, resulting in a brake fluid leak and reduced braking ability. Consequence: Reduced braking ability can cause longer brake pedal travel or extend the distance required to stop the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
