Recalls and problems owners report

NHTSA lists five recall campaigns for the 2016 3 Series. 18V755000 and 21V907000 cover an EGR cooler on diesel models that may leak coolant, which can mix with soot and cause smoldering particles and a melting intake manifold. 21V586000 covers a high-pressure fuel pump that may fail on diesel models, 20V185000 covers a constant-velocity joint between the transfer case and rear drive shaft that may be damaged, and 24V608000 covers an improperly sealed water pump electrical connector that may short circuit.

Owners have filed 93 complaints with NHTSA: engine with 24, electrical system with 23, service brakes with 18, unknown or other with 16 and power train with 13. Kelley Blue Book (opens in a new tab) keeps a common-problems page for the year.
