The BMW USA announcement (opens in a new tab) says the base price of the 2027 iX3 50 xDrive, the first series-production Neue Klasse model, will be $61,500 plus $1,350 destination and handling when it enters the U.S. market in September of this year, and describes it as capable of up to 434 miles of range on a full charge. Motor Trend calls it in some ways the all-electric X3.
Range, charging and efficiency
EV Charging Stations (opens in a new tab) reports that the EPA range is up to 434 miles, up from the up to 400 miles first announced, and that energy consumption including charging losses runs from 102 to 118 MPGe. Electric Cars Report (opens in a new tab) says that with a peak rate of 400 kW the iX3 can add around 185 miles in 10 minutes, and that a 10 to 80 percent charge takes about 21 minutes at compatible DC fast chargers using the standard NACS port. EV Care (opens in a new tab) lists the 800-volt architecture and a 108-kWh battery among its strengths.
How it compares
RevvedUpCars (opens in a new tab) frames the question as whether it beats the Audi Q6 e-tron and Porsche Macan Electric on range, efficiency, technology and driving, and says the iX3 looks built to go far without dragging a massive battery around. Highmotor (opens in a new tab) says it arrives with an entry price lower than its direct German rivals and greater range than any of them, on paper. The BMW iX3 (NA5) is a battery electric compact luxury crossover SUV manufactured by BMW, succeeding the X3-based G08. Unlike its predecessor, it is built on the Neue Klasse platform, no longer sharing its platform with its counterpart (G45). A long-wheelbase version, codenamed NA6, is slated to release in the Chinese market in 2026.
