What changed on the 2022 Land Rover Range Rover
Car and Driver (opens in a new tab) says the all-new 2022 Range Rover, not to be confused with the outgoing model that is also a 2022, is redesigned from the ground up, with a turbocharged inline-six or a 523-hp twin-turbo V8, standard all-wheel drive, rear-wheel steering and air suspension, and a 13.1-inch curved infotainment display with Pivi Pro. The new generation sold alongside a 2022 model of the previous generation until inventory ran out.
MotorTrend (opens in a new tab) calls it only the fifth redesign since the first Range Rover and notes a subtle exterior that hides significant changes. Kelley Blue Book (opens in a new tab) puts used 2022 Range Rovers at $40,400 for the P360 up to $91,000 for the P530 First Edition LWB at a dealer.
Recalls and problems owners report
NHTSA lists 13 recall campaigns for the 2022 Range Rover line. They cover front seat belt retractors and pretensioners (21V668000 and 22V523000), engine oil lubrication (23V044000), surround-camera water ingress (24V023000, 24V364000 and 24V947000), DC/DC converters (26V248000 and 26V599000), a missing audio amplifier on the Velar (22V581000), second-row seat frames and armrests (23V252000 and 23V324000), a damaged taillight link (23V394000) and the driver air bag clockspring connector (26V389000).
Owners have filed 31 complaints: electrical system with 16, power train with 10, engine with 8, air bags with 3, and forward collision avoidance and unknown or other with 2 each. 2022 Range Rover against the Bentayga, GLS, X7 and LX
EPA rates the 2022 Range Rover at 15 to 23 mpg combined and $3,350 to $5,150 a year in fuel. The Bentley Bentayga lists 14 to 18 at $4,300 to $5,550, the Mercedes-Benz GLS 15 to 20 at $3,900 to $5,150, the BMW X7 17 to 21 at $3,700 to $4,550, and the Lexus LX 19 at $4,100. The Range Rover beats all four at the top of its range.
