What the 2025 Mercedes-Benz GLA offers
U.S. News (opens in a new tab) lists the history: completely redesigned for 2021 with more standard safety and technology, more interior room, a higher ride height, a peppier base engine and two new AMG models including a revived AMG GLA 45, then updated styling, more standard features and shuffled trims for 2024. Standard features include two 10.25-inch infotainment displays, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and a hands-free power liftgate.
Car and Driver (opens in a new tab) covers the new GLA 250 and says its highway fuel economy test is still to come. EPA rates the 2025 GLA at 24 to 29 mpg combined and $2,650 to $3,250 a year in fuel.
Recalls and problems owners report
NHTSA lists one recall campaign for the 2025 GLA. 26V481000, from July 2026, covers door lock components on 2020-2021 CLA, 2019-2022 A-Class, 2022-2023 C-Class, 2024 CLE, 2020-2026 GLA and GLB, and 2023-2024 GLC vehicles.
Owners have filed 4 complaints: service brakes and power train with 2 each, and air bags, hydraulic, electrical system and unknown or other with 1 each.
2025 GLA against the X1, Q3, UX and XC40
The BMW X1 lists 26 to 28 mpg combined at $2,750 to $3,000, the Audi Q3 23 to 25 at $3,100 to $3,350, the Lexus UX 42 to 43 at $1,450 to $1,500, and the Volvo XC40 26 at $3,000. The GLA beats the Q3, matches the X1 and XC40 at the bottom, and trails the hybrid UX.
