What changed on the 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLB-Class

Car and Driver (opens in a new tab) says Mercedes-Benz's boxy, baby SUV receives no updates for the 2023 model year, so it is the same stylish and practical package it was for 2022. A 7.0-inch digital gauge display and 7.0-inch touchscreen are standard, dual 10.3-inch screens are part of the Premium package, and a color head-up display is a standalone option. Loaded GLB250s can crest $50,000, which is still about a third of the cost of a G550.

The mild-hybrid facelift with a new front bumper, full LED lights and a standard 10.25-inch touchscreen that Auto Express (opens in a new tab) reported in 2023 was for the European market.

Recalls and problems owners report

NHTSA lists 1 recall campaign for the 2023 GLB-Class. 26V481000, filed in July 2026, covers a door lock problem on 2020-2026 GLA and GLB models and several other Mercedes cars.

Owners have filed 13 complaints: engine with 4, service brakes and power train with 3 each, unknown or other with 2, and structure and fuel and propulsion system with 1 each. Kelley Blue Book (opens in a new tab) keeps a common-problems page for the year.

2023 GLB against the Q3 and X1

EPA rates the 2023 GLB at 23 to 27 mpg combined and $2,850 to $3,350 a year in fuel. The Audi Q3 lists 24 to 25 mpg at $2,500 to $2,600, and the BMW X1 28 mpg at $2,750. The GLB's range is the widest of the three, and it tops the Q3 but not the X1 at its best.
