Porsche Macan

Car and Driver rates the gas-powered 2026 Porsche Macan 10/10 as an Editors' Choice and 10Best winner, saying just as the 911 is a benchmark sports car, the Macan is a yardstick for other crossovers with sporty pretensions, with a base 261-hp turbocharged inline-four and a punchier 375-hp twin-turbo V-6 both pairing well with its dialed-in chassis, delivering Stuttgart athleticism in a more practical package than a 911, ahead of rivals like the BMW X3 and Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class. Carscoops reports that Porsche is ending gas Macan production in July 2026, even though the combustion model has consistently outsold its electric sibling in the United States, with demand for the gas version remaining strong after $7,500 federal EV incentives ended, and Porsche's CFO saying the company will send as many gas Macans to the United States as it can before production stops.

Method: recall counts and their affected components come from the NHTSA Office of Defects Investigation: Recalls API, queried by exact make, model and model year. Complaint counts come from the NHTSA Office of Defects Investigation: Complaints API, same query pattern. Data pulled 2026-09-04.

Known gap: the NHTSA complaints API did not return data for Porsche Macan model year 2016 when queried for this page: the request itself failed upstream, not returning a genuine zero. Those years are marked "not available" above instead of shown as clean; recall counts for those years are unaffected and come from the separate recalls API, which returned data for every year listed.

Check open recalls by VIN for one particular vehicle.

Q01Is there a best year to buy a Porsche Macan?

Recall count alone can't answer that: it says nothing about a specific vehicle's price, mileage, accident history or maintenance record. What federal data can say: 2018, 2017 carried more. See the model-year table on this page for the exact counts and what they cover.

Q02Which Porsche Macan model years should I watch for recalls?

The 2018 Porsche Macan has 5 federal recalls on file, most commonly affecting electrical system, airbags, equipment; The 2017 Porsche Macan has 6 federal recalls on file, most commonly affecting fuel system, airbags, equipment. Always confirm the open/completed status of every campaign for the specific VIN: a recall on this list may already be repaired on the vehicle in front of you.

Q03What are common recall-related problems on the Porsche Macan by model year?

2021: suspension. 2020: exterior lighting, seat belts. 2019: seat belts. 2018: electrical system, airbags, equipment, fuel system. 2017: fuel system, airbags, equipment, suspension. 2016: fuel system.

Q04Why do some Porsche Macan model years show "not available" for complaints?

The NHTSA complaints API did not return data for Porsche Macan model year 2016 when queried for this page: the request itself failed upstream instead of the count genuinely being zero. Recall counts for those years are unaffected; they come from a separate NHTSA endpoint that returned data for every year listed.
