Nissan Rogue
The 2025 Rogue uses a 201-horsepower turbocharged three-cylinder and CVT. Front-wheel drive is standard on most trims, with all-wheel drive available; Rock Creek is positioned as the rugged branch.
Compact SUV rivals
The Kia Sportage fields the widest trim range at 12 trims. The Ford Escape tows the most of the group at Up to 3,500 lb. None of these is a flat upgrade over the others — the right pick depends on which of those axes matters for the job. This comparison weighs Nissan Rogue, Kia Sportage, Ford Escape using each vehicle's own verified manufacturer and EPA-sourced facts instead of a single averaged rating: together they cover 23 trims across 9 linked sources, so any one of them can be checked against its own primary record instead of taken on this page's summary alone. Configuration, not badge name, decides which one actually fits a specific job. Check the exact trim and powertrain before treating any single vehicle's specification as settled, and open each full record below for the complete sourced trail.
Lineup overview
The 2025 Rogue uses a 201-horsepower turbocharged three-cylinder and CVT. Front-wheel drive is standard on most trims, with all-wheel drive available; Rock Creek is positioned as the rugged branch.
The Sportage family spans gasoline, hybrid and plug-in-hybrid powertrains. The marketed trim ladder changes across those three branches, so a Sportage trim must stay attached to its powertrain. MY2027 is confirmed as a minimal-update carryover (about $400 pricier lineup-wide), with X-Line the only trim gaining real new standard content.
The 2025 Escape combines two turbocharged gasoline engines with hybrid and plug-in-hybrid choices. Powertrain, AWD and tow ratings are not shared across the entire range.

Starting MSRP by trim is not yet independently verified across every vehicle in this record — pricing changes often enough mid-model-year that this page cites manufacturer configurators rather than publish a number that could go stale. Every other field above is sourced and dated per vehicle.

Where each one wins
Ranked directly from the sourced figures above — nothing here is an opinion.
Up to 3,500 lb, ahead of the Kia Sportage's 2,500 lb, the Nissan Rogue's 1,500 lb. Maximums require the specific powertrain and equipment noted in each full record.
12 trims against the Ford Escape's 6, the Nissan Rogue's 5. More trims means finer-grained equipment choices, not necessarily better equipment at any one price.
Technology and what changed
Rock Creek joins the 2025 range and trim equipment must be separated from the continuing S, SV, SL and Platinum positions.
Gas, hybrid and plug-in-hybrid Sportage trims are separate configurations even where their names overlap. For 2027 the X-Line gets a panoramic sunroof and a smart power liftgate as standard (previously SX-and-above content); everything else carries over.
Powertrain availability is the organizing variable: the Plug-In Hybrid is its own configuration and the 2.0-liter turbo carries the highest towing maximum.
