Generation history
Chevrolet Tahoe Generations & Next Redesign
Verified full-redesign years: 1995, 2000, 2007, 2015, 2021 (gen1 1995-1999, gen2 2000-2006, gen3 2007-2014, gen4 2015-2020, gen5 2021-present). Those five redesigns sit 5, 7, 8 and 6 years apart from one another, a 6.5-year average cadence. The lineup got a 'notable mid-cycle refresh' for MY2025 (the fifth model year of the current cycle, matching the refresh-at-year-4-to-5 pattern already seen on the Traverse and Silverado) and further smaller updates for MY2026 (new wheel designs, key card, Adventure Packages). This is generation 5 (T1), on sale since 2021, with no end year announced. The next redesign is estimated at 2027-2028, computed from this model's own past redesign cadence and never a manufacturer announcement. The 2027 Tahoe lineup spans 6 published trims (LS, LT, RST, Z71, +2 more), offered with RWD / 4WD drivetrains and 355 / 420 / 305 horsepower, topping out at Up to 8,400 lb of towing.

When is the next redesign?
Estimated 2027-2028.
Verified full-redesign years 1995/2000/2007/2015/2021 average a 6.5-year cadence. Applied from the current generation's 2021 start, that projects a full redesign around 2027-2028, but GM Authority's July 2026 reporting already rules out 2027 specifically (no new engine options, only the LS Custom Edition/High Country trim changes recorded above), so on the numbers alone the next real candidate is 2028, one year later than the raw cadence math suggests. Computed from Chevrolet's own past model years, not a GM announcement.
The model's own past redesign years drive this estimate. No manufacturer has announced it.

Background and safety record
What public sources say about the Chevrolet Tahoe.
The Chevrolet Tahoe () is a line of full-size SUVs from Chevrolet, marketed since the 1995 model year. Marketed alongside the GMC Yukon for its entire production, the Tahoe is the successor to the Chevrolet K5 Blazer, while the Yukon replaced the full-sized GMC Jimmy. Both trucks derive their nameplates from western North America, with Tahoe referring to Lake Tahoe and Yukon referring to the Canadian Yukon.
- Engines
- General Motors redesigned the Tahoe and Yukon on the new GMT900 platform for the 2007 model year. A hybrid version of the Tahoe/Yukon, which uses the shared GM/Chrysler Advanced Hybrid System 2, followed with the 2008 models. The GMT900-based Tahoe and Yukon exceeded initial sales expectations and continued to sell well despite a weakening market for large SUVs.
