Audi A7

MotorTrend says Audi decided to stop offering the A7 and S7 Sportback hatchback four-doors after the 2025 model year, though the high-performance RS7 lives on for 2026, and that the much-improved new Audi A6 will fill the gap left by the fastback A7 and S7. Car and Driver confirms Audi's sleek A7 and S7 fastback sedans will not be offered for the 2026 model year. TopSpeed says the A6 e-tron, which debuted as a 2025 model, inherits the outgoing A7's sportback body style.

Discontinuation confirmed

MotorTrend (opens in a new tab) says more sedans are leaving the U.S. market with Audi's decision to stop offering the A7 and S7 Sportback hatchback four-doors after the 2025 model year, though the high-performance RS7 lives on and will still be available for the 2026 model year. Car and Driver (opens in a new tab) confirms Audi's sleek A7 and S7 fastback sedans will not be offered for the 2026 model year.

What replaces it

MotorTrend says the much-improved new Audi A6 will fill the gap left by the fastback A7 and S7. TopSpeed (opens in a new tab) says the A6 e-tron, which debuted as a 2025 model, inherits the outgoing A7's sportback body style.

Its final year

Car and Driver (opens in a new tab) says the A7 treats passengers to a thoroughly modern and luxurious interior that easily justifies its price, but that newer rivals such as the BMW 5 Series and Mercedes-Benz E-Class were shining a light on the Audi's aging platform, and it still earned a spot on Car and Driver's Editors' Choice list for 2025. Kelley Blue Book (opens in a new tab) says the 2025 A7 has a starting sticker price of $73,295, with the range-topping A7 55 TFSI Prestige starting at $83,745.

Questions buyers ask

Is the Audi A7 discontinued?

Yes — MotorTrend (opens in a new tab) and Car and Driver (opens in a new tab) both confirm it ends after the 2025 model year in North America.

What replaces the discontinued Audi A7?

TopSpeed (opens in a new tab) says the A6 e-tron inherits its sportback body style, and MotorTrend says the redesigned A6 fills the gap it leaves.

  • December 2025, Back Over Prevention: Sensing System: Camera. Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Audi) is recalling certain 2019-2026 vehicles. Please see the recall report for a complete list of models. A software error may prevent the rearview camera image from displaying as intended. As such, these vehicles fail to comply… Consequence: A rearview image that does not display reduces the driver's view behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.

Method: recall counts and their affected components come from the NHTSA Office of Defects Investigation: Recalls API, queried by exact make, model and model year. Complaint counts come from the NHTSA Office of Defects Investigation: Complaints API, same query pattern. Data pulled 2026-09-04.

Known gap: the NHTSA complaints API did not return data for Audi A7 model years 2022, 2023 when queried for this page: the request itself failed upstream, not returning a genuine zero. Those years are marked "not available" above instead of shown as clean; recall counts for those years are unaffected and come from the separate recalls API, which returned data for every year listed.

Check open recalls by VIN for one particular vehicle.

Q01Is there a best year to buy a Audi A7?

Recall count alone can't answer that: it says nothing about a specific vehicle's price, mileage, accident history or maintenance record. What federal data can say: 2025, 2024, 2023 carried fewer recalls than this model's own average, while 2021, 2020 carried more. See the model-year table on this page for the exact counts and what they cover.

Q02Which Audi A7 model years should I watch for recalls?

The 2021 Audi A7 has 11 federal recalls on file, most commonly affecting electrical system, backup camera, seat belts; The 2020 Audi A7 has 8 federal recalls on file, most commonly affecting airbags, electrical system, tires. Always confirm the open/completed status of every campaign for the specific VIN: a recall on this list may already be repaired on the vehicle in front of you.

Q03Which Audi A7 model years have the cleanest federal recall record?

The 2025 Audi A7 has 1 recall on file; The 2024 Audi A7 has 1 recall on file; The 2023 Audi A7 has 1 recall on file: below this model's own average of 4.2. A shorter list on file as of this page's data pull is not a guarantee against a future recall.

Q04What are common recall-related problems on the Audi A7 by model year?

2025: backup camera. 2024: backup camera. 2023: backup camera. 2022: electrical system, equipment, backup camera. 2021: electrical system, backup camera, seat belts, tires. 2020: airbags, electrical system, tires, suspension.

Q05Why do some Audi A7 model years show "not available" for complaints?

The NHTSA complaints API did not return data for Audi A7 model years 2022, 2023 when queried for this page: the request itself failed upstream instead of the count genuinely being zero. Recall counts for those years are unaffected; they come from a separate NHTSA endpoint that returned data for every year listed.
