2015 Audi S5

MotorTrend (opens in a new tab) says all-wheel drive is standard on every S5, with a coupe and a convertible available, and the only engine is a supercharged 3.0-liter V-6 rated at 333 horsepower and 325 pound-feet paired with a six-speed manual or seven-speed dual-clutch automatic. It lists fuel economy of 18/28 mpg city and highway for automatics and 17/26 with the manual, and 18/26 for the convertible, which is not offered with the manual.

Kelley Blue Book (opens in a new tab) says the 2015 A5 and S5 get numerous small changes, including new wheels, new colors and rearranged option packages, with S Line exterior upgrades standard on Premium Plus models and the High Gloss Black package renamed Sport Plus. CarBuzz (opens in a new tab) notes the first-generation S5 was later replaced by an all-new second-generation car with a turbocharged V-6.

NHTSA lists no recall campaigns filed under the S5 name for 2015 and only two owner complaints, one about the engine and fuel system and one about lane departure and steering. CarFactBase (opens in a new tab) carries the same two complaints. The shared A5 and S5 coolant-pump recalls apply to four-cylinder turbo engines, not the S5's V-6. The record is too small to say anything about long-term reliability.

Kelley Blue Book (opens in a new tab) lists a used 2015 S5 at a Fair Purchase Price of $18,400 for both the Prestige coupe and the Prestige convertible, with trade-in values of about $11,550 to $13,700 and private-party values of about $14,650 to $16,650.

EPA rates the 2015 S5 at 20 to 21 mpg combined and $3,700 to $3,900 a year in fuel, all with all-wheel drive. The 2015 BMW 4 Series rates 23 to 27 at $2,850 to $3,350, the Mercedes-Benz C-Class 15 to 28 at $2,750 to $5,150 and the Lexus RC 21 to 22 at $3,500 to $3,700. On EPA figures the S5 is the least efficient of the four at its level, costing about $350 to $1,050 more a year to fuel than the 4 Series.
