BMW 2 Series
Car and Driver says the 2-series coupe has the athletic handling and easy power you'd expect of a BMW, with shoppers able to spec it with a 255-hp four-cylinder or a 382-hp inline-six and either rear- or all-wheel drive, and since it was refreshed just two years ago, expects the 2-series to carry over into 2026 unchanged. It separately calls the small and nimble 2026 BMW 2-Series coupe a car that punches above its weight. CarBuzz says the related 2 Series Gran Coupe, despite having 'coupe' in its name, is actually a front-wheel-drive subcompact sedan positioned below the 3 Series, sharing a platform with the X1 and several Mini products, unlike the rear-drive 2 Series Coupe that serves as the basis for the hardcore M2.

Background and safety record
What public sources say about the BMW 2 Series.
The BMW 2 Series is a range of subcompact executive cars (C-segment) manufactured by BMW since the year 2014. The 2 Series was created when BMW spun-off the 2-door models of the BMW 1 Series into a separate series. The 2 Series was first launched as a 2-door coupé and convertible, both based on a rear-wheel drive platform.
- Motorsport
- The M235i Racing is a track version of the 2 Series developed by the BMW Motorsport division and was produced from 2014 to 2018. It was aimed at amateur drivers due to its relatively lower price and addition of driver aids such as anti-lock brakes, traction control, and dynamic stability control.
