What changed on the 2017 BMW X6
Carvana (opens in a new tab) calls the 2017 X6 a light update led by a new standard iDrive 5.0 infotainment system with touchscreen control. It is part of the second-generation X6 introduced for 2015, so 2017 brought a technology and appearance update rather than a new body or structure. Every trim has a 10.2-inch navigation touchscreen, leather upholstery and the newly standard xLine appearance details.
Car and Driver (opens in a new tab) calls the standard 300-hp turbocharged inline-six a silky-smooth base engine, and says the choice comes down to the X6's sleeker roofline and tapered tail against the X5's extra headroom and cargo capacity. Kelley Blue Book (opens in a new tab) puts used 2017 X6 prices at $17,100 to $20,500 at a dealer.
Recalls and problems owners report
NHTSA lists 2 recall campaigns for the 2017 X6. 17V327000 covers X5 M and X6 M vehicles whose tire label says 20-inch tires when they carry 21-inch tires. 19V823000 covers damaged rear seat lower anchor bars used for child seats on 2015-2019 X6 models.
Owners have filed only 3 complaints: engine, air bags and child seat with 1 each. Kelley Blue Book (opens in a new tab) keeps a common-problems page for the year.
