The 2019 Ford F-150 makes forward collision warning with emergency braking standard on every truck and gives the Limited a number of changes and a price increase to $68,630, with a 3.3-liter V-6 as the standard engine. NHTSA lists nine recalls, including a loose battery cable joint that can stall the engine, seat recliners and headlight switch logic, and 1,005 complaints led by power train. What changed on the 2019 Ford F-150
F-150 Forum (opens in a new tab) reports that forward collision warning with emergency braking is now standard on all 2019 F-150s, and AutoInfluence (opens in a new tab) lists the standard engine as a 3.3-liter V-6 with 290 horsepower and 265 pound-feet. Car and Driver (opens in a new tab) says the Limited gets a number of changes and a price increase from $62,855 to $68,630, and that it reaches 60 mph in 5.1 seconds and runs the quarter mile in 13.7 seconds at 102 mph, quicker than the 420-horsepower V-8 Silverado.
EPA rates the 2019 F-150 at 16 to 25 mpg combined and $2,850 to $4,050 a year in fuel.
Recalls and problems owners report
NHTSA lists nine recall campaigns for the 2019 F-150. 19V805000 covers a fastener securing the power distribution box cable and battery monitoring system to the positive battery terminal that may loosen and affect instrument displays and braking or steering assist, and the engine could stall. 19V633000 covers driver and passenger manual seat-back recliner mechanisms across several Ford trucks and SUVs, for which Ford inspects and replaces the seat structure as necessary. 20V097000 and 26V373000 cover daytime running lamps that may stay on when the lighting switch is turned from Autolamps, the second for trucks repaired incorrectly under the first, and 18V894000 and 19V278000 cover block-heater cable damage. The others are 22V252000, a rearview camera with a poor electrical connection, 24V852000, a missing air-bag warning label, and 25V442000, a back-over software update.
Owners have filed 1,005 complaints with NHTSA: power train with 514, engine with 256, unknown or other with 97, electrical system with 81, engine cooling with 54 and back-over prevention with 42. ProblemsByVin (opens in a new tab) scores the year 6.4 out of 10, around the segment average.
What a 2019 F-150 costs today
Kelley Blue Book (opens in a new tab) lists the cheapest 2019 F-150, the XL SuperCab, at a Fair Purchase Price of $14,100, with trade-in values from about $9,025 to $29,500 and private-party values from about $12,550 to $34,800 depending on cab, engine and trim.
2019 F-150 against the Silverado, Ram 1500 and Tundra
EPA rates the 2019 F-150 at 16 to 25 mpg combined and $2,850 to $4,050 a year in fuel. The 2019 Chevrolet Silverado rates 15 to 21 at $2,950 to $4,550, the Ram 1500 17 to 23 at $2,700 to $4,200 and the Toyota Tundra 14 to 16 at $3,900 to $4,450. On EPA figures the F-150 has the highest top-end efficiency of the four and the Tundra the lowest.
