About the brand

About Jaguar.

Chery Jaguar Land Rover Automotive Company Ltd. is an automotive manufacturing company headquartered in Changshu, China. A 50:50 joint venture between UK-headquartered Jaguar Land Rover, itself a subsidiary of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles of India; and Chinese automaker Chery, it was formed to allow production of Jaguar Cars and Land Rover vehicles in mainland China. Chery Jaguar Land Rover's first assembly plant is in Changshu, with production having commenced in October 2014.

History
Chery and Jaguar Land Rover were first reported to be in discussions about the possible creation of a Chinese joint venture manufacturing company in August 2010. In March 2012, Chery and Jaguar Land Rover announced plans to invest an initial US$2.78 billion in a new Mainland China-based joint venture to manufacture Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles and engines, as well as the establishment of a research and development centre and the creation of a new automobile marque.
Lineup
Jaguar built its reputation on a run of sports cars embodying founder William Lyons' "value for money" mantra — the XK120, XK140, XK150 and E-Type — powered by the twin-overhead-cam straight-six engine that Lyons pushed into production despite engineering misgivings that the design was too temperamental for volume manufacturing; that engine became the mainstay of Jaguar's saloons and sports cars for decades, and its sedans built a "Grace, Space, Pace" reputation through the Mk VII, Mk IX, Mark I/II and XJ6. Jaguar's model line looks nothing like that today: the company ended production of every combustion-engine model in 2024 as part of a rebranding into an all-electric ultra-luxury marque, a repositioning meant to be complete by 2026. The transition has been unusually severe in the short term — with no new gasoline models and the electric replacements not yet on sale, Jaguar's sales dropped 97.5% in 2025, limited to older stock from previous model years — making Jaguar the most dramatic example of a legacy brand attempting a full pivot to electric-only, rather than layering EVs alongside an existing gas lineup the way most competitors have.
