What changed on the 2025 Nissan Rogue

The Rogue was redesigned for 2024 and, per MotorTrend (opens in a new tab), returns for 2025 with a few more handy features. Drive Sense (opens in a new tab) reports a new 12.3-inch touchscreen running Google built-in software, with Maps, Assistant and the Play store, on the upper trims, and Car and Driver (opens in a new tab) adds the new Nissan Maintenance Care program, which includes the first three oil changes for up to two years or 24,000 miles. Drive Sense puts the EPA rating at 30 mpg city, 37 highway and 33 combined for front-drive models and says the Rogue slightly edges some direct competitors.

The engine is the important detail. Every 2025 Rogue uses the 1.5-liter three-cylinder VC-Turbo, which is the source of two of its three recalls, so a Rogue buyer is really buying a bet on that engine.

Recalls and complaints on the 2025 Rogue

NHTSA lists three recalls. 24V748 says a software error may make the rearview camera show a blank screen in reverse, a rear-visibility non-compliance that raises crash risk; it covers 2024 to 2025 Rogues. 26V080 covers 2023 to 2025 Rogues with the VC-Turbo: increased temperatures can break down the engine oil, which may cause the engine bearings to seize, leading to engine failure and a possible breach in the engine block that lets hot oil discharge. 26V081 covers 2024 to 2025 VC-Turbo Rogues where the gears in the electronic throttle body assembly may break, causing a loss of drive power.

NHTSA has 182 complaints on the 2025 Rogue. Unknown or other leads with 75, visibility and wiper problems account for 48 and 31, forward collision avoidance 10, engine 9 and structure 9. CarFactBase (opens in a new tab) quotes owners who took the car to the dealer repeatedly for the same issue and one who reported a problem tied to the electronic throttle recall. If you are looking at a used 2025 Rogue, the VIN check has to show both VC-Turbo campaigns as completed.

What a 2025 Rogue costs

Drive Sense says the 2025 Rogue starts just under $30,000 including destination for an S front-drive model, a few hundred dollars more than last year, while CarBuzz (opens in a new tab) lists the FWD Platinum at a $39,520 MSRP and the average used 2025 Rogue at $22,242 across 107 listings. That is a wide gap from top-trim sticker to what used cars sell for. CarEdge (opens in a new tab) projects a 50 percent loss over five years, a resale value of $18,373, and says a two-year-old Rogue saves $15,920 compared with buying new.

2025 Rogue against the Toyota RAV4 and Honda CR-V

The Rogue's 29 to 33 mpg combined and $1,900 to $2,150 a year in EPA fuel cost on fueleconomy.gov (opens in a new tab) is close to the 2025 RAV4's 28 to 39 mpg ($1,600 to $2,250) and CR-V's 28 to 40 mpg ($1,550 to $2,250) on the gas versions. Those two both offer hybrids, which the Rogue does not, and that is where they pull ahead on running costs. The Rogue counters with the Google-based screen on upper trims and the free first oil changes. Choose the Rogue for the screen and a sub-$30,000 starting price, and only after the VIN shows both VC-Turbo recalls completed; choose a RAV4 or CR-V hybrid if lower running cost matters most.
