2018 Porsche Macan
The 2018 Porsche Macan enters the year with minor enhancements: new interior and exterior colors, improved infotainment and a new Sport Edition with about $5,000 of extra standard equipment on the base four-cylinder. NHTSA lists six recalls, including a failing control unit, a passenger seat occupancy mat, a fuel-pump cover and a ski bag strap, and 35 complaints. Used prices run about $18,150 to $27,400.
What changed on the 2018 Porsche Macan
Car and Driver (opens in a new tab) says the Macan enters 2018 with only minor enhancements, including new interior and exterior color choices, improved infotainment capabilities and a new Sport Edition, available only with the base four-cylinder engine, whose extra standard equipment would cost nearly $5,000 more if individually specified. It adds that Porsche optimized the cabin air filter and added a new air-circulation display to the gauge cluster, and criticizes the standard interior fittings as disappointing for the price.
A MotorTrend report on the later refresh (opens in a new tab) covers the updated Macan with new tech and taillights. KBB lists fuel economy from 17/23 to 20/25 mpg city and highway, and EPA rates the 2018 Macan at 19 to 22 mpg combined and $3,500 to $4,100 a year in fuel, all with all-wheel drive.
Recalls and problems owners report
NHTSA lists six recall campaigns for the 2018 Macan. 18V318000 covers a control unit that may fail and prevent safety-related functions such as driver display alerts and possibly impair drivability and post-crash functions, 21V131000 a front passenger seat occupancy sensor mat that may degrade and fail to detect a passenger, 20V077000 a fuel pump service cover that may contact the flow nozzle and crack, causing a fuel leak, and 23V443000 a lower seat-belt anchor screw on the outboard rear seats that may not be tightened properly. The others are 18V844000, a ski bag strap sewn with the wrong thread that could tear in a crash, and 22V656000, missing caps over the low-beam headlight adjustment screws.
Owners have filed 35 complaints with NHTSA: air bags with 10, steering with 6, fuel and propulsion system and electrical system with 5 each, and fuel system and gasoline with 3 each.
