Generation history
Chevrolet Equinox Generations & Next Redesign
Fourth generation launched MY2025 (gas/ICE model). 2027 is its 3rd model year. Generation history verified: 1st gen 2005-2009, 2nd gen 2010-2017, 3rd gen 2018-2024, 4th gen 2025-present. Redesign-year gaps: 2005->2010 (5y), 2010->2018 (8y), 2018->2025 (7y): average 6.67 years. This is generation 4, on sale since 2025, with no end year announced. The next redesign is estimated at 2032, computed from this model's own past redesign cadence and never a manufacturer announcement. The 2027 Equinox lineup spans 3 published trims (LT, RS, ACTIV), offered with FWD / AWD drivetrains and 175 horsepower. This exact model year starts at $29,000, before destination and options.

| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| Engine | 1.5L turbo I-4 |
| Output | 175 hp |
| Transmission | 8-speed automatic (all configurations) |
| Torque | 203 lb-ft |
| Seating | 5 |
| Drivetrain | FWD / AWD |
| Starting price | $29,000 |
The 2027 Equinox replaces the front-wheel-drive CVT with the same 8-speed automatic AWD models already used, ending a real reliability complaint (Consumer Reports had pulled its 'Recommended' rating over CVT issues) and removing the CVT's 184 lb-ft torque ceiling: FWD models now make the same 203 lb-ft as AWD. GM Authority also expects FWD towing capacity to rise from 800 lb toward the AWD-equivalent 1,500 lb as a result, though that specific figure is not yet OEM-confirmed. Base LT pricing is $29,000, about $200 over the outgoing 2026 model.

On sale since 2025, with no end year announced.
When is the next redesign?
Estimated 2032.
Verified full-redesign years: 2005, 2010, 2018, 2025. Gaps of 5, 8 and 7 years average 6.67 years. Applied to the current (4th) generation's 2025 start, that projects a full redesign around 2031-2032. GM Authority separately reports a possible mid-cycle production shift/refresh tied to the Fairfax plant relocation later in the 2027 calendar year: that is a plant move, not a design refresh, and is not the same claim as this cadence estimate.
The model's own past redesign years drive this estimate. No manufacturer has announced it.
