What changed on the 2020 Alfa Romeo Giulia
Car and Driver (opens in a new tab) says automated emergency braking and forward-collision warning become standard for 2020, with more driver-assistance features optional, including a semi-autonomous driving mode. It adds that one 8.8-inch touchscreen replaces last year's non-touch screens as standard across the range, with a new 7.0-inch display in the gauge cluster.
Stellantis Media (opens in a new tab) describes the new infotainment with connected services and a redesigned interface, and a dealer write-up (opens in a new tab) covers the model-year updates. Kelley Blue Book (opens in a new tab) lists used 2020 Giulias from $15,850 for the Ti to $33,500 for the Quadrifoglio at a dealer, with ratings from 17/25 to 24/33 mpg.
Recalls and problems owners report
NHTSA lists nine recall campaigns for the 2020 Giulia. Four are brake-related: 20V714000 for rear brake discs that may fracture, 21V309000 for an ABS hydraulic control unit rotor shaft that may separate, 23V382000 for excessive brake clamp force that may fracture a rotor, and 24V943000 for a brake pedal that may detach from the booster. 21V848000 covers tires with a lesser load rating than intended.
The others are 21V878000 for a fuel line sensor housing that may crack and leak, 24V510000 for a seat belt buckle sensor that may stop the front air bag from deploying, 24V512000 for incorrect tire placard information, and 25V667000 for a rearview camera display that fails the rear visibility standard. NHTSA has no owner complaints on file for the year, and Autojunket (opens in a new tab) lists oil filter housing leaks and wastegate actuator issues as reported problems.
