Recall record across the lineup
Dodge: which models carry more or fewer federal safety recalls than the brand’s own average.
| Model | Average recalls per model-year | Total recalls on file | Model years covered |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dodge Hornet | 5.0 | 15 | 3 |
| Dodge Durango | 4.1 | 37 | 9 |
| Dodge Charger | 4.0 | 40 | 10 |
Method: each model’s average is computed from the same NHTSA Office of Defects Investigation: Recalls API model-year data shown on that model’s own hub, queried by exact make, model and model year. Data pulled 2026-09-04. Models with fewer than 3 published model years of recall data are excluded from this comparison.

About the brand
About Dodge.
Dodge is an American brand of automobiles and a division of Stellantis, based in Auburn Hills, Michigan. Dodge vehicles have historically included performance cars, and for much of its existence, Dodge was Chrysler's mid-priced brand above Plymouth. The Dodge main factory operated in Hamtramck, Michigan, from 1910 until it closed in January 1980.
- History
- Horace and John Dodge founded the Dodge Brothers Company in Detroit in 1900, and quickly found work manufacturing precision engine and chassis components for the city's growing number of automobile firms. Chief among them were the established Olds Motor Vehicle Company and the new Ford Motor Company.
- Lineup
- Dodge's mainstay through the 1970s was trucks and full-size cars, alongside compacts like the Dart and midsize B-body cars like the Coronet and Charger. The 1973 oil embargo pushed Chrysler to develop the K-platform compact and midsize cars for 1981, and that platform's derivatives, including the Dodge Caravan minivan, are credited with reviving the company through the 1980s. Dodge's corporate history has been unusually turbulent: it split off Ram and Viper as separate sub-brands in 2011 (Ram becoming its own standalone marque), folded the SRT performance brand back into Dodge in 2014, and has passed through DaimlerChrysler, Cerberus Capital Management, and Fiat ownership before landing in Stellantis after the 2021 FCA-PSA merger. Today's Dodge lineup has narrowed to the Durango three-row SUV and the compact Hornet crossover, alongside a new generation of the Charger that revives the "Daytona" name from Dodge's 1984 performance coupe for its electric and gasoline variants — a sharp contraction from the brand's mid-2010s peak, when the Charger and Challenger muscle cars, Durango, Journey, and Grand Caravan formed a much broader range.
