ModelAverage recalls per model-yearTotal recalls on fileModel years covered
Infiniti QX601.91910
Infiniti QX501.8116
Infiniti QX801.82212

Method: each model’s average is computed from the same NHTSA Office of Defects Investigation: Recalls API model-year data shown on that model’s own hub, queried by exact make, model and model year. Data pulled 2026-09-04. Models with fewer than 3 published model years of recall data are excluded from this comparison.

About the brand

About Infiniti.

Infiniti (stylized in all caps) is the luxury car division of the Japanese automaker Nissan. The brand began on November 8, 1989, initially in North America. The marketing network for Infiniti vehicles included dealers in over 50 countries in the 2010s.

History
The Infiniti brand was introduced in the United States in 1989 to target the premium vehicle segments in the United States that would not have otherwise fit in with Nissan's mainstream offering, and partially influenced by the Plaza Accord of 1985. The brand was created around the same time automaker rivals Toyota and Honda developed their Lexus and Acura premium brands, respectively.
Lineup
Infiniti launched on November 8, 1989 as Nissan's answer to Toyota's Lexus and Honda's Acura, both introduced the same year, entering the U.S. premium segment with the Q45 flagship sedan. The brand's logo is a stylized road extending to the horizon and a reference to Mount Fuji, reflecting its Japanese origin despite its U.S.-first launch strategy. Infiniti's dealer network once spanned more than 50 countries in the 2010s, but by 2020 had narrowed to about 25 markets concentrated in North America, China, Taiwan and the Middle East, tracking a broader contraction in the brand's model range and sales volume over the same period. The current lineup has shrunk to a handful of SUVs — the QX50, QX55, QX60 and QX80 — after Infiniti discontinued its sedans (the Q50 and Q60), leaving the brand, unlike sibling luxury marques Lexus and Acura, without a traditional car in its U.S. range. Several current Infiniti models are closely related to Nissan platforms, such as the QX55 sharing its underpinnings with the Nissan Murano, reflecting the brand's continued reliance on parent-company engineering rather than dedicated luxury architecture.
