What changed on the 2023 Porsche Taycan
MotorTrend (opens in a new tab) calls the 2023 changes less dramatic than before but meant to make the Taycan a more enticing car for prospective EV buyers and an easier one to live with, adding an electrochromatic panoramic roof to the options. Car and Driver (opens in a new tab) lists models from the 402-hp single-rear-motor base to the 750-hp Turbo S, every one with a two-speed transmission, 2+2 seating with an optional third rear seat, and 270-kW and 50-kW fast-charging capability as standard with 150-kW charging optional.
Kelley Blue Book (opens in a new tab) puts the cheapest 2023 Taycan, the sedan, at a Fair Purchase Price of $66,300. EPA rates the 2023 Taycan at 75 to 83 MPGe combined, 206 to 246 miles of range and $900 to $1,000 a year in electricity, with rear- or all-wheel drive.
Recalls and problems owners report
NHTSA lists 11 recall campaigns for the 2023 Taycan. Six concern the high-voltage battery: 23V615000 covers insufficient sealant that can let liquid accumulate, and 23V840000, 24V215000, 24V217000, 24V731000 and 24V732000 cover a possible short circuit within the battery modules, where owners are advised to charge to a maximum of 80 percent until the repair is done. Others cover front brake hoses that can crack and leak brake fluid, a seat belt warning that may not activate for an unbelted passenger, an occupant classification error that may deactivate the front passenger air bag, and a charging fault on some home outlets.
