What the 2022 Honda HR-V is
Carvana (opens in a new tab) calls the 2022 HR-V the final year of the first-generation U.S. model, which ran from 2016, before the all-new 2023 redesign, and says the Sport emphasized appearance and phone connectivity with 18-inch wheels and a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while the EX added heated front seats, a moonroof and Honda's driver-assist suite. Car and Driver (opens in a new tab) says the 7.0-inch touchscreen is standard on all but the base LX, which gets a simpler radio with a color screen.
Kelley Blue Book (opens in a new tab) puts used 2022 HR-Vs at $18,000 for the LX to $21,300 for the EX-L at a dealership, and rates fuel economy at 26/31 to 28/34 mpg city and highway. EPA rates the 2022 HR-V at 28 to 30 mpg combined and $2,100 to $2,250 a year in fuel, with front- or all-wheel drive.
Recalls and problems owners report
NHTSA lists three recall campaigns for the 2022 HR-V. 23V046000 and 24V384000 cover a design error in the audio display power circuit that may keep the rearview camera image from displaying when the engine is started with a key, and 24V064000 covers a front passenger seat weight sensor that may crack and short circuit, failing to suppress the air bag as intended; dealers replace the sensor.
Owners have filed 88 complaints with NHTSA: electrical system with 26, power train with 19, engine with 18, unknown or other with 15, service brakes with 14 and vehicle speed control with 12. ProblemsByVin (opens in a new tab) counts the same 3 recalls and 88 complaints, and CarComplaints (opens in a new tab) tracks the year's problems by category.
