2025 Ford F150
The 2025 Ford F-150 largely carries over from 2024, with some trims starting at a lower price but losing some standard features. NHTSA lists 13 recalls (Consumer Reports counts 16), including a fuel tank that may be improperly secured. Kelley Blue Book's base prices start at $40,045 for the XL, and the average used 2025 costs about $50,528.
What changed on the 2025 Ford F-150
MotorTrend (opens in a new tab) says the 14th-generation F-150 was introduced for 2021 and updated for 2024, and that the 2025 largely carries over, with some trims starting at a lower price point while losing some standard features. It says it is disappointed Ford is removing content from some of the lower trims, although the automaker also lowered starting pricing to match the deleted features. So the useful comparison for a shopper is not 2024 against 2025 by sticker but what each trim includes, since a lower-priced 2025 XL or STX may lack an item a 2024 had. The EPA's combined ratings for the 2025 F-150 run from 12 to 23 mpg depending on engine and configuration.
Recalls on the 2025 F-150
NHTSA lists 13 recalls for the 2025 F-150, and Consumer Reports (opens in a new tab) counts 16, including one on trucks with the Trailer Tow Max Duty package and a 9.75-inch heavy-duty axle. The ones that matter most: 26V578 covers 2023 to 2027 F-150s whose fuel tank may be improperly secured and leak fuel or detach from the vehicle while driving; 25V309 covers steering, where the lower intermediate shaft fasteners may be improperly attached to the steering gear so the shaft can come loose or detach; 25V164 covers an automatic transmission valve body that may have been machined incorrectly, causing reverse gear failure or unexpected forward movement in reverse or neutral; and 25V488 and 25V823 cover a loss of power brake assist while driving or when using a driver-assistance feature. 25V512 covers a rear axle hub bolt on the heavy-duty axle that may fatigue and break, 25V344 covers connecting rod and bearing components that can lead to engine failure on certain engines, and 25V540 covers an instrument cluster that may fail at startup. Because recalls apply by build date, engine and axle, look up the truck's VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
What a 2025 F-150 costs
Kelley Blue Book's base prices on this site's data start at $40,045 for the XL and rise through the XLT and higher trims. CarBuzz (opens in a new tab) lists the XL 2WD Regular Cab with the 8-foot box at a $37,350 MSRP and the XL 4WD Regular Cab with a 6.5-foot box at $43,725, and puts the average used 2025 F-150 at $50,528 across 430 listings.
2025 F-150 against the Ram 1500 and Chevrolet Silverado
The 2025 F-150's 12 to 23 mpg combined and $2,700 to $6,450 a year in fuel on fueleconomy.gov (opens in a new tab) compares with 15 to 23 mpg ($2,700 to $5,150) for the 2025 Ram 1500. The Chevrolet Silverado's listing in the EPA's data runs 15 to 70 because it includes the electric Silverado EV. The F-150's efficient end matches the Ram's, and its thirstiest versions are the ones that pull its range down to 12 mpg.
