Hyundai vehicle research

The Hyundai vehicle research desk indexes 12 current EPA model families for model years 2026–2027, totaling 48 certification records across 44 model/option labels. Current Hyundai certification data spans Electricity, Hydrogen, Premium, Regular, Regular Gas and Electricity fuel types and All-Wheel Drive, Front-Wheel Drive, Rear-Wheel Drive drivetrains, with combined efficiency of 19–115 MPG/MPGe. The archive extends further back with 37 additional model-year records across 12 Hyundai models. 13 dedicated model hubs break this down by nameplate, and each family page adds its own 12-answer decision desk covering configuration choice, ownership, maintenance and used buying. Every figure here traces back to its own EPA row or dated manufacturer source, never averaged across the make.

About the brand

About Hyundai.

Hyundai Motor Company, often referred to as Hyundai Motors and commonly known as Hyundai, is a South Korean multinational automotive manufacturer established in 1967. Currently, the company owns 33.88 percent of Kia Corporation, and owns a luxury cars subsidiary, Genesis. The three brands altogether make up the Hyundai Motor Group.

History
Chung Ju-yung founded the Hyundai Engineering and Construction Company in 1947. Hyundai Motor Company was founded in 1967 with his brother, and the company's first model, the Cortina, was released in cooperation with Ford Motor Company in 1968. When Hyundai wanted to develop its own car, it hired George Turnbull in February 1974, the former managing director of Austin Morris at British Leyland.
Lineup
Hyundai's turnaround in the U.S. market traces to a deliberate bet on warranty coverage: facing weak quality perceptions in the late 1990s, the company added a 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty, still one of the longest in the industry today, and backed it with heavy investment in quality and design that pushed Hyundai to second place in J.D. Power's initial-quality survey by 2004. That strategy scaled into real volume: Hyundai's Ulsan, South Korea plant is the world's largest single automobile manufacturing facility, producing more than 1.6 million vehicles a year, and Hyundai Motor Group had grown into the world's fourth-largest automaker by 2011. The current U.S. lineup splits cleanly by role: Elantra, Sonata and the discontinued Veloster cover sedans; Kona, Tucson, Santa Fe and Palisade run compact to three-row SUVs in ascending size; and the Ioniq sub-line (Ioniq 5, Ioniq 6, Ioniq 9) carries the brand's dedicated electric vehicles, built on their own EV-specific platform rather than converted from gas models. Hyundai also builds hybrid and plug-in-hybrid versions of several gas nameplates directly, rather than isolating electrification to the Ioniq name alone, and has been a FIFA World Cup sponsor since 2002 as part of its global brand-building push.
Motorsport
The Hyundai World Rally Team has competed in the World Rally Championship since 2000, and every season since 2014. For the 2002 World Rally Championship season, Hyundai hired the four-time world champion Juha Kankkunen, along with Freddy Loix and Armin Schwarz.
Marketing
In 2008, Hyundai Motors established a committee to oversee its Corporate Social Responsibility programme. Among the programme's initiatives have been the "Happy Move Global Youth Volunteers Program". The Hyundai Motors' India Foundation (HMIF) has invested more than 20 million rupees in various corporate social responsibility programmes in India.
