Large cars compared: all 22 current models side by side

The 22 large cars in this table range from the Honda Civic at $25,890 and Accord at $29,590 to the Rolls-Royce Ghost at $377,350 and Phantom at $560,350, and from 13 mpg for the Rolls-Royce to 146 MPGe for the Lucid Air. The class is defined by interior volume rather than price, so it holds family sedans and luxury flagships together.

Why this class is so mixed

The EPA classifies a car as large by its interior volume, not its badge, so the same table holds the Honda Civic and Accord and the Rolls-Royce Ghost. Use the price column first to decide which part of the class you are shopping. The efficiency leaders are electric: Kelley Blue Book (opens in a new tab) says the 2026 Lucid Air has a combined efficiency of 146 MPGe, 149 in the city and 142 on the highway, and lists the range-topping Air Sapphire at $250,500. The Audi A6 e-tron (127 MPGe) and Tesla Model S (124) follow.

Running cost

Electric large sedans cost about $500 to $650 a year to charge on the EPA's assumptions, against the Rolls-Royce Ghost and Phantom at 13 mpg. For a buyer choosing between an electric and a gas luxury sedan, the fuel saving is real but small next to the price gap and depreciation, so compare five-year cost to own, which Kelley Blue Book (opens in a new tab) defines as out-of-pocket expenses like fuel and insurance plus the car's loss in value over time.

What to check

Newer makers' cars need extra care in the used market. DriveAuthority (opens in a new tab) notes that Lucid's software can be buggy and counts 17 recall campaigns on the Lucid Air through March 2026, and that used 2024 to 2025 Tesla Model S Long Range cars sold for $55,000 to $75,000. Open the model page of any large car you are considering to read its recall and complaint record, and check a used car's VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
