Full-size and midsize pickup trucks compared: all 16 current models

The class mixes midsize trucks such as the Toyota Tacoma, Chevrolet Colorado, GMC Canyon and Jeep Gladiator with full-size and electric trucks, so start by deciding whether you need a full-size bed and tow rating. Kelley Blue Book (opens in a new tab) says the 2026 Ford F-150 has a starting price of $40,085, making it the most affordable on its list of the best full-size trucks, and that the Toyota Tundra's 20 mpg combined makes it the most fuel-efficient vehicle on that list. It describes the GMC Sierra as giving truck buyers 'the best of both worlds' of towing and payload and near-luxury amenities, and the GMC Canyon as a midsize truck with bold styling, a powerful engine and excellent towing and off-road capability.

Kelley Blue Book also describes the Honda Ridgeline as building on the Pilot and Passport's comfortable ride with a clever bed ideal for suburban truck needs, which is the trade for buyers who want a truck bed but not a truck ride.

Gas pickups cluster at the bottom of the fuel-economy range: the GMC Canyon rates 20 mpg combined and the Jeep Gladiator 19. The electric trucks lead by a wide margin, with the Rivian R1T at 87 MPGe, the Tesla Cybertruck at 79 and the Ford F-150 Lightning at 72, and annual energy costs of $850 to $950 on the EPA's assumptions. Their range and towing performance differ from their sticker figures, though, so read the model page's tow and range rows before you rely on them.
