Two-seat sports cars compared: all 26 current models side by side

The 26 two-seaters in this table start at $31,665 for the Mazda MX-5 Miata and $45,775 for the Nissan Z and run past $129,950 for the Porsche 911 and $194,500 for the Aston Martin Vantage. Fuel economy runs from 9 mpg for the Bugatti Mistral to 51 MPGe for the electric Bugatti Rimac Nevera, with the MX-5 at 29 mpg the most efficient gas car.

The price ladder in a two-seat sports car

The class is defined by price steps. Kelley Blue Book (opens in a new tab) says the 2026 Mazda MX-5 Miata starts at $31,665 and that the range-topping Grand Touring starts at $36,965, so the cheapest way into a new two-seat sports car is a roughly $5,300 range of trims. The next stop is the Nissan Z at $45,775, then the Porsche 911 at $129,950 and the Aston Martin Vantage at $194,500 on Kelley Blue Book's base prices. Everything above those is a supercar, and the table sorts them alongside the affordable cars because they share the EPA's two-seater class.

Fuel economy and running cost

Two-seaters are rated on the EPA's combined scale like any other car, and the range is huge. The Bugatti Rimac Nevera, an electric hypercar, is rated 51 MPGe at $1,500 a year, the Mazda MX-5 leads gas cars at 29 mpg and $2,750 a year, and the BMW Z4 follows at 28 mpg. At the other end the Lamborghini Revuelto rates 12 mpg and the Bugatti Mistral 9. If a sports car is your weekend car, fuel cost is a small line next to insurance and depreciation.

What to check

Because production of these cars is small, a used two-seater's record matters more than its class average. Read the model page for its recalls and complaints, ask for service records, and check a used car's VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls. On track-focused versions, ask whether the car has been driven hard, since tires, brakes and cooling parts wear faster.
